WD Caviar Green 2TB & windows 7 wont boot

2024 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  lsilvest
i bought this WD 2TB hard drive yesterday, i put it in my Media player and follow the instruction to format it..... then today, i changed my mind and try to swap my 1TB drive from my HTPC.

Unfortunately, after i connect the cable to try to boot......the PC stuck at "verifying dmi pool data" stage.....and could not get out of it. I cant even reach to select the device to boot from.

How do i resolve this? I have the gigabyte 78GMP-DS2H mother board and 2 other 1 TB hard drive in the system.

I think it has to be do with the format of the disk drive (done from my Media player) not being understood by my PC. But i cant think of a way to get this dirive to work from my PC.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.....

Try using gparted, its a very useful tool to have around for this type of thing.
Can you get to the bios setup? If so, you may need to change your boot sequence. A lot of times when you put a new drive in your system, the bios may list it as your boot drive.

To format the drive, I like Partition Wizard which works great and is easy to use from either Windows or a boot disc. It's free and you can get it at PC World or CNet downloads.

Thank you both for replying, are these software runs in BIOS? I can set boot priority like cd rom, usb cd rom, and then hard drive........i cant select which harddrive though.........how do i install these software?

thanks
That mobo number doesn't seem to exist. 78GM should be an AMD 780 board. If it's a standard Gigabyte bios you should be able to select the hard drive to boot from which it really seems is your problem and formatting the drive isn't going to help if that's the case. You didn't say which drive was your original boot drive.

Partition Wizard needs to be run in Windows and it will create a boot disc for you that you can run at system start.
