Just checked this site after long absence. Didn't realize there was so much interest "WD HDTV". I've been playing with this gadget for the past month and find it to be a really great product (esp with the fixes in the latest firmwate update. Hope there will be more updates and new features).

I've been using this product primarily to show photos on my HDTV - 16:9 at 720p, and the results are really outstanding. A couple of thumb drives gives me all the storage I'll probably ever need. I've been trying to manage these photo-folders on my PC (add/delete files, change names, etc) and have run into some HDTV file-management problems. Seems that HDTV retains memory of my thumbdrive file structure so that if I change things within, like deleting a file, changing a filename, HDTV sends "cannot display" error messages. I thought that by deleting .wd_tv that HDTV adds to my folder and causing it to be re-generated would fix things -- but evidently not. The only way to fix things seems to give my altered photo-folder a new foldername.

Is there a better way to solve this problem?
