Anyone have a good resource for powerstrip timings?:

looking for the following timings for ATI RADEON cards

1440X960 @ 71.928

1280X960 @ 71.928

1920X1080 @ 71.9829

1280X720 @ 71.928

one can get the magic 71.928 number by adjusting porch settings, however adjusting porch settings is not always ideal for the display device. I ran into an issue today where to achieve 71.928 the porch settings needed to be adjusted, thus the image would not maintain proper width with his 1209 maxed out as there was way to much horizontal back and front porch.

Does anyone have a list of referenced ideal porch settings for higher resolutions? I see custom resolutions with porch settings for HDTV, but not a list for 960P and 720P stuff for us CRT guys.

Thanks,

David

Hi ProudX:

___Creating a timing w/ 71.928 Hz or as close to that refresh as possible is not that hard but the question many should ask is this: Are you truly achieving a 47.952 Hz/59.940 Hz/71.928 Hz refresh output? From the many posts in regards to this, the Radeon cards are possibly only accurate down to maybe just .1 Hz. Creating a custom T&R w/ 3 digit refresh rate accuracy is possibly a wish at best. Ashley has discussed this a few times in the past if you care to look up a few threads yourself …

I have read about the .1hz increment, however its important to note that sometimes when someone plugs in a 1440X960 timing he will get way too much horizontal front porch and back porch. The HZ thing is questionable too. Sometimes one will get 71.892 or 72.006 when they plug in the custom resolution settings. Even if the radeon was good down to only .1hz increments wouldn't 71.900 be better than 71.8 or 72.0? If the horizontal porchs are too much it makes it hard to max out the width of the picture.

All I am saying is I think we should have some timings posted for higher end CRT units that work. WE have a listing of postings for HDTV RPTVS.

Anyone with Highend CRTS please post your timings here and your exp with them.. I am just trying to find the holy grail of timings for higher resolutions without powerstrip guessing for me.

I agree. I have read through all the guides and definitive manuals on the HDTV settings for Powerstrip, but I wish someone would compile a list for front CRT units...maybr even divide them by type...7", 8", 9".

Even just a listing from people in one place of what all there settings are and what type pj they use would be great.

A section for digital pjs wouldn't be a bad idea either! That way there is a "reference manual" for all of us.

Would someone be so kind as to post the corrrect timings for a Radeon running 960 X 1707 @ 72Hz and 48Hz? I have a 16 X 9 screen and would like to do some experimenting with both of these.

Thanks,

Doug
