webvan pioneer 50" went for $8000 + commission

A pioneer 50" just went at the Webvan auction for $8000 to a bidder over the net (by phone really). This means that the winner pays a 13% buyers premium, so it is up to $9040. And if it isn't for resale then the buyer will need to pay 8% sales tax.

If you figure when webvan ran out of money then you can probably figure out when this plasma was originally bought. You can bet it wasn't in the past few months.

In any case, dell had/has a 50" Pioneer for $6112 (plus tax) with their 20% sale.

Hee hee hee hee... I am listening to the auction now and I wondered who paid what for the plasma.

So much for perfect information.

I was listening in on that auction too. Does anyone recall what the projectors went for? There was a JVC S15 D-ILA.

A friend of mine used to work for Webvan and he bought a 50-inch plasma for $1200. I guess employees got first pick!

I was listening to the auction until I saw how high the prices were for servers and everything else. A friend told me that Sun sends people out to these auctions and bids up the prices of their used servers just to prop up the market. In this case, I'll bet that they didn't even need to...the prices I saw were higher than you can find on Ebay.

I was listening to items in the area of the JVC S15 D-ILA just in case things went for a ridiculous amount. I don't remember what it went for, but it was a few thousand dollars. The list price was $18000 a year or so ago, so it was likely a good deal.

The extron 8 input hdtv switch went for $300.

My company was about a mile from Webvan's office and I went there on Monday afternoon to see the preview. I saw the Pioneer plasma and there were several guys that were playing with it and all of us saw the stuck bright green pixel.
