For DVD use something like the Barcodata and Graphic series. 800, 801 and 801s are good and cheap. Driven by HTPC they give a very good picture.
Sony 127X series should be almost the same.
They cannot fully resolve HDTV though.
The tubes most be good condition. This is very important.
Don't be fooled by the low prices. They are all high end video machines.
This is where the fun begins. Theese are actually rated as low end CRT.
So what to be looking for the keyword is "burn in" and "wear" on the tubes themselves. Use the search engine it should give some burn pictures.
