I have a plasma right now. It is giving me trouble. Boards seem to be failing, noise creeping in.

I can see why Panasonic exited the business.

So I'm thinking a local dimming led tv will at least be more reliable and use less power.

I mainly use tv for cinema (very very important) and gaming.

I'm okay with smaller sizes.

On a fairly tight budget. Just wondering what the cheapest local dimming tv is.

By 'local dimming' assuming you mean 'Full Array Local Dimming' (FALD), then Vizio: http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/24381825/vizio-announces-2014-e-series-and-m-series-hdtv-collections-featuring-best-in-class-picture-quality-with-advanced-local-dimming-and-full-array-led
