It seems the general consensus is DLP is the top technology

Not necessarily anymore ( which is quite an admission from this long time DLP fan ).

The Planar PD8150 would be one of the top single chip DLP units right now.

The JVC RS10 and RS20 projectors ( DILA technology - not DLP ) are arguably the best projectors for the money currently available.

For what money? A reasonable case could be made that the cheapest ones are the best bang for the buck, yet pretty much everyone who buys something other/more expensive bought it because it was the best for their buck.

These threads don't really serve much purpose. They tend to just start arguements. There are many threads about the various technologies...do some searching as you will find loads of pros and cons to everything. Then you'll have to weigh out what matters to you personally.

It wil lbe the one the person you ask buys. Currently for my viewing priorities I prefer DLP over DILA but that`s just me. I give up the better blacks and the ability torun higher gammas for the increased sharpness. and better intrascene at higher APLlevels.

That was $380 for the lock pick set and $20 for the ski mask, flashlight, and gloves, I presume?

Sorry, wasn't trying to. Just thought the general consensus was from the time I spent here.

I met General Consensus once.

LED is the future. If you can wait. Expect to see several LED models in the next 12 months - yes they will have a premium price initially, but I expect price crashes for the existing tech, both new and 2nd hand.

Yeah, I was pondering that as well. But based on all the hints, current info, and gut felling, it really seems like it will be at least next CEDIA (2010) before we'll see good LED machines break $10k. And even then it may just be LED machines with Vivatek performance, and the ones with the real advances will only just be launched then, again in the
