Graham Nash: Songs for Beginners (DVDA 5.1)
I plan on spinning both discs back to back when I get Songs for Survivors. I previously got Song for Beginners at a good (new) price from a discussion here at AVS and agreed...song writing, production, and surround mix are all top notch.@weekendtoy, turn it up to 11. Then put on Songs For Beginners and turn that up to 11. These two albums, IMO, are some best produced and mixed(!) 5.1 albums I have ever heard. And Nash’s mastery of songwriting has always been tops across every group and solo effort he’s put forth.
Yes I did buy a Marantz SA-10. Excellent sounding CD/SACD player that betters the Oppo 205 for stereo disc playback. I'm listening to Patricia Barber's Companion MFSL SACD as I type. The SQ of this SACD is incredible to begin with but the SA-10 takes it to the next level and beyond (Buzz Lightyear reference ). The Ayre DX-5 is an excellent player as well!
Bloody hell... This sort of thing does not happen in any second-hand record store near meFound these two at the local used record store. Already own them in different forms (T. Rex on SACD and Clapton on blu-ray) but couldn't resist. Condition is VG+ for Clapton and just good for T. Rex.
Just got lucky, hehe. I've been there several times before and never saw a DVD-A/DTS CD before. SACDs are a complete pain to find though as they don't separate them into a surround music section and the cases are standard jewel case sized so hard to scan the racks for them (and they have a fairly large used CD section).Bloody hell... This sort of thing does not happen in any second-hand record store near me

Keep the threads in which you participate updated on massaging your SA-10 into your system. I hope to complete my system by year's end.
We both own an extensive library of SACD titles and I want to read about your top picks.
What other gear and cabling is in your system currently?
Will do! With the great weather up here in Maine I haven't been playing much music. But once the fall and winter settle in it'll be time to really crank the tunes!
I have quite a few favorite SACD titles both in stereo and in surround. I'll take some time in the future to put a list together. I've been trying to find the time to put together a list of the concerts I've gone to in the last 45+ years. That will be a test of the old depleted memory .
Most of my gear is listed in my signature. A combination of various decent cables with most from Signal Cable and some other mid level cable companies. Not a true believer in $1k interconnects and $3k power cables. Most of the Signal Cable (ICs, PCs and speaker cables) have been bought used. I like their cables as they offer great build quality and sound at an affordable cost.
No problem, my pleasure! If Marantz voiced the SA-10 for specific cables I'm not aware of what they suggest. I'm quite happy with the Signal Cable Analog Two XLR cables that I'm using .Thank You! Bill Mac
I did not know if Marantz voiced the SA-10 Reference player with a certain brand of Cabling?
I got a whole box full of Signalcable analog cables from the 'olden' days when everything was hooked up analog.
