What brands have a phantom center mode?

316 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  hwc
I am going to be purchasing a receiver for my computer since I spend so much time there I figured I would do it right. Now, which brands have this feature? It would be nice to only have four speakers due to the fact I intend on being in the sweet spot all the time. I can't seem to find this feature in my Harman Kardon AVR8000 and it seems a little hard to find it in the specs as I search on line so I figured I would throw this out to the collective.

P.S. Incidentally this is directly related to the thread I started on used flagship receivers.

All of them.

It's part of the Dolby Digital requirements. You just tell the receiver you don't have a center channel speaker.
Wow! Don't I feel like the moron.

Please Mod feel free to kill this thread :)P

No need to feel like a moron. It was a pretty good question.

Trust me, you are not the only person who struggles to figure out all this stuff. The industry has been so busy adding new features to receivers that they never stopped long enough to explain what the stuff does or how it works.
