Hi,

Connecting 4 Components that will all be within 3 feet of each other:

1) HD Cable Box w/ DVR provided by Comcast

2) Home Theatre System--Yamaha YHT585 from Best Buy (has a single HDMI slot)

3) A basic DVD Player/Recorder (has a single HDMI slot)

4) Panasonic Plasma TV (has HDMI slots)

I have one HDMI Cable as right now I only have the cable box and TV hooked up. The DVD and HTIB are still in their packaging. I am ordering a Digital Optical Toslink cable as well as I learned from other forums that I need that for capturing Digital sound based on my Yamaha system. After that, do I need additional HDMI cables or anythign else that is worth ordering from Monoprice as I begin the process to conenct all the components together? Any other suggestions are welcome as I am a newbie...

Thanks,

Al

I guess I would probably do an HDMI from both the Comcast box and the DVD player to your plasma, and then a toslink cable for audio from the Comast box and the DVD player to your receiver. Unless your plasma can output digital audio from an HDMI output to your receiver?
