I've asked this question on the SMR Forum and it's been suggested that I ask it over here. Here it is:

Assuming that one can even find a dealer that is willing to give you the full trade-in allowance for an MC-1 ($4000), what sort of deals are likely to be found (if one knows where to look)? MSRP minus the trade-in allowance seems to be the default deal. I've read that some have done better. As I'm negotiating with dealers right now, I just wanted some idea of what a "good" deal looks like.

Thanks,

Jonathan

This doesn't answer your question, but it is a data point to consider...$4000 trade-in value + $4900 cash = MC-12B. By the way, I have never done any business with this guy, just stumbled across the ad on Audiogon.

Best Deal is something like this

1) give your serial # to Lexicon dealer. Lexicon gives MC-12B to

dealer at lower cost

2) Sell your MC-1 to 3rd party (with understanding of no trade-in

option)

3) Buy MC-12B from dealer for cash deal (same one in step 1)

Obvoiusly this is dependent on getting probably more than 2,500 for your MC-1

My local dealer could be the guy in the audiogon ad, not sure.
