What Did You Do Today in the World of 2-Channel Audio? This can be as simple as buying a new CD or as elaborate as buying new equipment. Share your hobby with others.

To start off, I purchased a used copy of Steely Dan - Two Against Nature on CD. I also cleaned several used CD's I purchased over the past week and replaced CD cases as needed. Lastly, I purchased two new micro-fiber towels from the Dollar Store to clean CD's with since my old ones are getting worn.

Found a 2 channel Bryston power amp yesterday for a decent price, and did some gentle WAF probing this morning to gauge how much crap I can expect to catch when I buy it.

Listened and compared extensively between the Peachtree Nova220SE and the Harman Kardon HK3490. Spent the last 4 hours doing so.

I may end up keeping the HK I have for now.

Ordered a Cambridge 851N network streamer pre/amp to pair with my recently acquired Parasound A23 amp. Both units arrive Tuesday and unfortunately, or fortunately, I will be at the Capital Theater in NY catching Phil Lesh on his 76 (I think) birthday. Probably won't get to play until Wednesday.

I am beyond excited to get my hands on the 851N as I didn't yet have a pre amp (was using the outs on my AVR) and wanted to move away from SB touch. Hoping the 851N lives up to the hype and I can get down to 2 pieces of equipment and put my cds away in a closet forever.

Promoting simple 2C setups ( integrated amp & cd player ) with friends that have a home theater room, but want to sit back an discern the music as the artist intended. currently have 3 2C rooms, and working on transforming my theater room into a forth via dual amp to 1 set of speakers......2C greed is good. :D

I don't know. I've only seen a photograph of it so far. I have to arrange to go have a listen at some point. I wanted to do some groundwork first before I came home with it under my arm. I'll report back here when I have the thing safely in place.

Bryston 4B ST. Picking it up on Monday and adding it to my two channel system. Spent quite a bit of time listening to it today (2 channel naturally, to stay on topic for the thread.) No extraneous noises and even comes with a test sheet, showing that its rating of 250 wpc at 8Ω is very conservative. It's actually kicking out over 300 wpc. THD is negligible. Distortion tests were apparently done at maximum output and at 4 different frequencies. Last time I saw such small numbers was in school physics class.

Looks like a healthy addition to my system.

Had a listening party today. Did some cable comparisons at the party between MIT, Cardas, and Goldmund RCA's. Walked a customer through the use of a Fozgometer. Mounted a Transfiguration Proteus. Drank some beer (at the party) :p... listened to some great music :D

I can only hope next weekend is as much fun!!!

I pretty much stayed quiet and let the guys tell me what they though. What they said they heard...the goldmunds came in last place because they were quite a bit lighter in the low end than the other two. The MIT's got a couple shots at it because we tried them in their 3 different resistance settings. The middle setting was kinda shrill but oddly the high setting and the low setting sounded pretty similar to one another. The low/high setting was very good, sounded smooth and realistic but seemed to accenuate the upper midrange. Ultimately they chose the Cardas. It sounded a lot like the low setting on the MIT's but without the upper midrange boost, they described it as "Just sounding right". I did all the cable switching so they stayed seated and the volumes were level matched. I heard the same things they were describing so it was a lot of fun. I believe the models involved were the MIT shotgun S1's which are discontinued, not sure about the goldmunds model as I am unfamiliar with the line, and the Cardas were the Clear Reflection. It was a lot of fun to play with, kept us entertained for an hour or so :)
