I am trying to price out the 4365 and 437 and was wondering what people paid for theres and where they purchased it??? I was able to negotiate at PC Richard and Son on the 4365 to $2,550 and the 437 $2,650 plus 399 for a 5 year service contract and $50 for delivery which I believe does not cover bulb replacement.

Is it worth the extra $100 to get the 437?

That's one hell of a deal on the 4365 and 437 given those prices are below dealer prices.

Good for you.

At PCR in union square (NYC) the sticker on 507 is $3500 and the 4365 is $3000. I got a quote for the 507 for $3300, and may be able to negotiate it further, esp if i agree to an extended warranty (which would bring it back to $3400 probably).

Meanwhile, fry's in northern CA sells 507 for $3000.

Wait... the 5 year warranty does NOT cover bulb replacement?? They gave me a 1-page warranty policy which basically said if anything "operational" fails on the set it would be covered. I'm not sure what the samsung warranty says, still waiting to see that.

As for the $100, i say yes. First, the black border looks cooler. Secondly, although they have identical parts, I strongly suspect that there may be visual tweaks to insure that side-by-side the XX7s look better than the XX65s, and the XX65's are probably B-stock (or did less-well during QA). I think $100 is worth the doubt.

Which Fry's are you getting a quote from? When I last checked with them (at their Santa Clara, CA location) I didn't find a single DLP on the show floor but there price for the 5065 was the same as Best Buy at $3999.

If you mean the old HLM507 at $3000 then that may be possible but I don't think you want the older rev.

Thanks,

I paid $4400 for the HLM617W at Harvey Electronics in NYC, it was a demo version that supposedly was calibrated and tested. The bulb had about 1000 hours according to the service menu. I am happy with it, I also paid $200 for delivery.

We have several Fry's in our area. The $3,000 was for their demos that had been in the store three to four months. The one in the Palo Alto store also had a dead sound system. It had the Sept. firmware.

Hey guys, got a great deal from PC Richards. Got the HLN4365W with a Feb. 2003 manufacture date with 100 hours on the lamp for 2300.00 plus tax. Also picked up the 3 year in home warranty for 399.00 more. I think they will really cut you a sweet deal if you are going to get the extended warranty. I think if you buy right at the end of the month they can hook you up pretty well too. My salesmen actually told me that If I would wait until two days later when the month was turning over he would knock an extra 100.00 off. Price was low enough for me so didn't do the deal. Good luck guys, I just got the dreaded three blinking lights though. Hope these lamps are being stocked these days. :D

At 399, I got my extened warranty extended 5 years as indicated on my receipt. Are you sure it's 3 and not 5 years?

Just an update; I did wind up spending the extra $100 for the HLN 437W so I paid $2649 for the tv, 399 for the 5 yr warranty and 50 delivery charge. However they are not getting the tvs in until the end of the month. But I figured the deal I got at PC Richard was worth the wait. I priced the tv at J&R for $3200.
