I was browsing some used projectors for sale when I came across a JVC ILA 230SC. This guy weighs 300lbs, has about 3K lumens and and a resolution of 1600x1200. But, I can't find much else info on it. Can anyone enlighten me as to how much difference there is between a D-ILA and the older ILA models?

Actually if you are going to go this nutty, find a 330hd

instead. These beasts are jvc (huges) original ila's.

How they work is that small precision CRT's ( a little

less than 4 inches diagonal) draw pictures on the back

of the ila device. the ila then functions just like the

d-ila and is a reflective device.

There is no digital pixel structure of any kind. However

there can be scan lines depending on what resolution you

run the thing at.

If you love to re-converge CRT projectors every week

then this thing is for you. You will be tweaking till

you croak. But the picture is absolutely outstanding

once you get it perfectly adjusted. Contrast ratio

not quite that of current projectors, but lumens like

crazy.

Wait till you see the replacement bulb price.

($1800 at last look)

Also it requires 220 volt power, and dishes out heat

and noise like you would not believe.

Replacement parts might be very expensive.
