I 'm having a hard time findind out what are the requirements for a good HTPC? I understand you need a good video card with output but what is best? Do I need software other than dvd player soft like power dvd etc..

I know for instance component out video cards made by Pinnacle or Matrox are very pricey. Will I benefit from going component out from my dvd on my pc or is svga out the

best for my CRT Projector?

Thanks

I just read somewhere that with HTPC you can only line-double your dvd movie. Is this true? If I want to use a 9" CRT I need to be able to go quadruple no?

Thanks

not true, a HTPC can scale well beyond 480p, I have mine at 720p now and will be going to 960p tonight/tomorrow. It also gives you more options w.r.t. scaling outputs than any of the cheaper scalers on the market (Quadscan, Deuce, CrystalImage, etc.)

Start with the link above, then spend a couple days in the HTPC forum, lots to learn there!!
