This is my first post on avs. I joined this forum because of the great info on projectors.

To my question: I saw an ad for a Dream Vision White Magic lcd projector and in the ad it stated that it had 16:9 compatibility. What does this mean? Is this equivalent to dolby digital ready(just add the dolby digital?) Or just add a 16:9 lens to get 16:9?

It usually means that the panel itself is a 4:3, but the unit can perform the squeeze to view anamorphic material like most DVD's properly on a screen.

It usually only means that it can rescale an HDTV signal for presentation. It doesn't mean you will get all the resolution possible, or a pixel for pixel match, but just that it will use the info it recieves to show the picture in proper format. The resolution of your projector determines how much detail you will actually be able to take advantage of and see.

My current idea of the best value:

Boxlight 38t

Quadscan Elite

Panasonic RP91

RCA DTC-100

Da-Lite 100" 4:3 1.3gain

Studio Experience SE616's

and some other stuff.
