What drivers are Hsu/SVS/etc using?

545 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Ron Temple
I don't want to get into a discussion of who's better or anything, I am just looking for a discussion of the motor topologies and technology in the drivers these guys are using. I read something about Hsu using an Adire designed driver (XBL2?) and SVS is using TC or their own in-house drivers. Also would be interested in what Velodyne is using. Anybody with inside info care to comment?

Good luck with this one Mark.

You pretty much know the story. Hsu is using XBL2 technology in the HO series but not in their other offerings. SVS has been using TC sounds but is now bringing driver design in-house, apparently starting with the 12.3 driver.

AFAIK, Velodyne uses proprietary drivers in their high end models, and I would not be surprised if all their drivers are proprietary as they have been in business for about 20 years, and Bruce Hall and his team know an awful lot about drivers and other related matters.

For more information on Velodyne, why don't you post a question about the origin of Velodyne drivers in the Official Velodyne Thread?

You are correct...the high end drivers are assembled in Morgan Hill, CA ... proprietary...doubt if they will share the specs. The rest are shopped overseas based on their design.
