I'm not sure how describe what I'm seeing for most of AMC HD films, but it's not good.

In switching from their SD channel (4:3) to HD channel (16:9), it looks like the image width and height is the same. One would expect different, if they were doing a standard center cut for SD. Most of the older films remind me of what TNT & TBS do, with the panoramic stretch on the sides of the image, but not as noticeable.

The newer films look fine, for the most part.

I think something is fishy. Some kind of weird image manipulation. Anyone have a clue?
