If this has come up before, sorry, I haven't been on here in quite a while since the 2k and 3k series are rather stable, and I haven't convinced myself to get a 4k yet.

But the discussion of adding MP3 playing to the 4500 got me wondering. SB's Rio server (or whatever they call it) networks via HomePNA rather than ethernet, which I always thought was weird. But if the 4500 is going to play streamed MP3s, maybe the phone jack is for HomePNA?

I guess they could also have a modem in there too.

There's modem hardware and software. Anybody know what HomePNA hardware might be worth checking for?

A common HPNA chip is the Broadcom BCM4210. For example, you'll find it on HPNA-enabled MP3 jukebox motherboards designed by OpenGlobe - including the Compaq Music Center, Kenwood Entre, and Escient Fireball (note these boxes also run Wind River OS like the Replay 4000 does).
