What is a CRT exactly? Do most of the newer ones have HDTV compatability? Are non-hd compatible TV's also CRT's?

CRT = Cathode Ray tube. Think of it as 3 really bright TVs (one red, one blue, one green) shining through lenses and onto a screen.

Most CRT front projectors are capable of accepting HD resolutions. The mid to upper end CRT PJs are capable of fully resolving that resolution. There are very few new CRT PJs and those that are new are very $$$ (20k+). Most of us purchase used PJs from reputable sources (cost ranges from $500-$10k).

Yes, your basic tube TV is a CRT.

Err, don't you mean an endless source of frustation intersperced with periods of entertainment?

Oh, uh, duh, I'm still in frustration phase after moving, and retubing, etc. Haven't hit the period of entertainment in months. :(
