The "K" just indicates the cabinet color, in this case black. I think "S" would indicate silver. The color makes no difference as far as the quality. The earlier versions of the RP62 used the excellent Faroudja de-interlacer, the later models used an inferior chip. You have to look at the serial number on the back of the unit to distinguish that, also if the build date is before Oct 2002 - its most likely a good Faroudja unit. However all of the RP62's use a rather cheap motor drive assembly that many on the forums have reported failing after 7-8 months of use, so its not as reliable as the excellent RP-82,XP30,XP50 models. Also the RP-62 has a few artifacts that the other models lack. So I'd recommend going after one of the other older Panasonic models instead - check EBAY.
