I've been out of the game for a while and wish to return by replacing my disastrous g35.

As I understand there are 3 gfx manufacturers. I am looking for an IGP.

Intel, Ati, Nvidia.

After g35 I prefer to never own Intel again. I had sucess with Ati but can try Nvidia if it is better.

I mainly want the best deinterlacing & scaling for dvds, bitsreaming hd audio and smooth 23.976hz.

What should I buy? Remember it has to be socket 775 ddr2 mATX with IGP. Thanks!

Thanks for that. Very dissapointing to hear
I remember the 9400 from my g35 days. I'd have thought things would have moved on. Clearly not. I think I'll wait a few more months and then upgrade to the core i chips.

Reading up on the 5 series radeon doesn't look very promising either. A kind reminder why I went standalone... It appears 3 years on we get the same problems over & over again.

Dvd has been with us for 10-15 years and I still can't find an htpc that matches a cheap standalone.

I don't use my htpc as a playback device anymore it is useless. I use it for content creation & storage which it is good at.

Not IGP, but what IGP does bitstreaming?

GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128357 $50

POWERCOLOR AX5450 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131339 $50

Pretty sweet Mobo/Vid for $100

And the standalone vs HTPC vs $ argument is a dead horse argument. We all know standalones are cheaper, easier, and can be better quality. But why have multiple components + pay cable/sat companies for DVR rental fees when we can have everything in one nice little box that we can nerd out on on the weekends?
