Is it DVD with only DTS or DD audio signals? If so, all I need is to get a reciever to decode DTS and DD plus a regular Panasonic RP62 DVD player right? Or do I have to get a DVD-Audio capabled DVD player?
DVD discs that contains movies are called DVD-V. DVD-A is a seperate format that contains compressed lossless audio format (as opposed to lossy format of mpeg, DD and DTS). You would need a DVD player with DVD-A capability. Currently, most DVD-A players outputs in analog due to copyright issue (except for a few that has encrypted digital link between the player and the processor like the Meridian). You would also need a receiver/processor with 5.1 direct input so that you could amplify the output from the DVD-A player.
