hello

i`ve tried for good period of time . to get SPDIF to process DD and DTS.

i`m using power dvd and windvd platinum. for movies play back and mp3 .

SB platinum 5.1 has front panel. which it has OPTICAL out+SPDIF out.

both are connected to receiver HK 310.

platinum setting is : speakers setting for 5.1.

AC3 is not checked.

device control is default.

but when i selected to by bass SPDIF i don`t get sound at all.

so its set to default,

dvdp is set to use SPDIF.

on HK i can not get DD nor DTS to work on this setting. only pro logic , and its optical in put.it says that on HK. but only L\\R blinking.

when i set SB to by bass SPDIF i`m able to switch to DD and DTS , all speakers are blinking on HK but no sound.

does any one has more luck than me ?

I've gone though the same experience on my SBLive. I's not a true digital source, and my reciever does not pick it up as digital. Just to be on the safe side, make sure your SPDIF from your DVD player is not connected to your sound card. Windows allows for more choices on pass through, and if you have the analog connector plugged in it won't transfer digital. Aside from that, it's just a limitation on the Creative SB cards.

hi thanks for reply

i don`t have DVD ROM connected to sound card.

anyway i called SB tech support.

we went through configuration and setting.

device control should be on default

speakers setting won`t matter if AC3 checked or not.

speakers are set to 5.1 setting.

most MP3 files are not 5.1 digital.they are for L\\R only.

but if i have AC3 music file it will give me sound from 5 speakers.

i put DVD movie in DVD drive. with setting above . and win DVD spdif.

here it goes all speakers were working on HK amp

files playing in computer has to be AC3 or 5.1 compatible to get 5.1 speakers to work right.
