I'm looking for the best HD-dvd player available.

Requirements:

HDMI v1.3

1080p / 24

Can bitstream to receiver new lossless audio

Ethernet



My tv is the LNT4671F

My receiver will soon be the onkyo 605

A-35 i know can do the things you require.


the XA2 is the flagship, but not sure if it has hdmi 1.3.

XA-2 does it all.

And it is HDMi 1.3; it bitstreams all audio codecs.

X/C A35 has slightly better PQ in HD as user reviews said...

Seriously, if you have money to throw away the by all means buy it (that is XA2) but when A35 is now at $240 level I think it's simply a no-brainer to go for the A35 unless you really want a backlit remote.

I would also say the XA2/Onkyo 805, mainly due to the problems in (and lack of fix for) the 1080p60/IVTC processing in the A35.

The major problem with the XA2 is that you probably can't find one right now for a reasonable price. Amazon rip-off Partners have 'em for $850 + $30 shipping. If you see one in a store for under $500.....grab it!
