I am building my DIY screen. I am getting a Panny 300u. I wanted a 45 X 80 inch screen. However, I had to reduce the height to 44.75 inches. Is the ratio THAT critical?? In other words, should I use 16:9 or 1:77? The difference is about 1/2" on a 92" diagonal screen. Is the progector EXACTLY 16:9 or 1:77?? I have a 2 inch boarder, I was just wondering how close these measurement need to be.

Thanks

My panny L300u has a 1.75 ratio according to my measurements.

(another confirmation from someone else for this would be good)

My DIY screen measures 40" x 70" and the image fills it nicely.

I have black velvet border/masking around the screen and adjust the zoom so that it there is about 1/4-1/2" inch bleed into the velvet, mostly on the on the horizontal since I have adjustable vertical masking.

Result...nice crisp black borders all around , which i like.

As long as your masking soaks up light, you can give yourself 0"-1" IMO to have well defined screen borders.
