Hello
The main difference between the two is that balanced out put/ input requires three wires, opposed to the unbalanced which olny has two. Also XLRs can have very long connections without distortion. Like Kendrid said if you look on most professional gear amps and such you will see XLR inputs ant ouputs.
Balanced Input: A connection with three conductors: two identical signal conductors that are 180 degrees out of phase with each other, and one ground. This type of connection is very resistant to line noise.
Unbalanced Input: The most common kind of audio connector, using a small, single-pin plug and a coaxial shield.Unbalanced audio is fine for the domestic environment, and for line-level signals in a typical broadcast studio. Problems start to occur if the signals are being carried over long distances, especially if the source and destination have separate mains supplies.
Hope this helps.
