i would find out the rms rating for the speaker that is what you should aim for . The only way to get more watts fed into your system is to get a external amplifier.
That should be plenty of power to get to reference volume levels from the speakers in an average size room.... Whats the size of your room?

Nice thing about HK is they are prettyy accurate with their actual wattage output unlike other companies
That HK 254 has more power than you think. I have a similar powered AVR 325 and you can turn it up pretty loudly and it'll still have clean power.

But if you do add something like the Emotiva XPA3 or UPA-5 you'll have great power for your RTi70s.

what is "2 trt 1000I" I'm not familiar with those. If those are towers you might want a 5 channel amp to power the 3 fronts plus these speakers.

If you do add an external amp I'm pretty sure it'll be more than enough for your Polks in whatever room you have.

So which pair is used for fronts and which for surrounds?

Didn't you just buy an Onkyo TX-NR1008 receiver? The speakers will

handle a lot of power.
Yeah I just bought an onkyo 1008 and was just wondering how many watts I could get out of my speakers, I didn't want to mention the amp as to try an get an unbiased ansr. But ny onkyo is 135*7.

Your Polk's will be able to handle it - you may give up, before they will.

The Polk's are around 150 to 200/250 watts max.
Thankyou much, Il let u know how it sounds, I'm stroked to see how much the dif will be.
It's about 18x12 . I' have my 60 plasma above the fireplace with the sci30 beneath it an the two rt1000i towers on either side all facing my couch, my psw450 sub is about 8 ft to the left of the couch, the tv and 3 speaks r aprox 8ft in front of couch, then I have the two fix30 on each side of the room as surrounds and the two rti70 in back of the room as the rear surrounds.
Seeing as there is only 4.3 dB difference between 50W and 135W, and that the speaker is likely compressing at that stage, you might not notice a huge difference.
If you are using a subwoofer for the bass, the power needed for the rest of the audioband is surprisingly small.

Bass sucks up huge amounts of power to get the desired SPL; higher frequencies do not.
