I looked of a pic of one on ebay, and it looks like an lnb with a signal combiner??? I have an extra lnb can I use that to hook to my oval dish? What does the signal combiner do????

No, you can not use an old single LNB from you oval dish. The sat-c LNB is a special version. The signal combiner works by routing the signals from the sat-c LNB to the sat-b cable via special tone (22khz). The STB have been updated recently to allow the box to tune the transponders on the sat-c bird down the sat-b cable. You can do a search for a much better report on what the sat-c is and how it works.

The combiner does not use the 22 kHz tone. The tone is used to switch between the 101 satellite and the newly combined 110 and 119 satellites.
