Anyone have any idea of wtf this is? I dont think its a dead or stuck pixel/pixels. I cant see it from where i sit, but it still bugs me that it is there. There is a smaller one towards the right too. It almost looks like the screen is dirty, but its under the screen.

i posted this on another forum and got this reply:

"Dust blob inside lens assembly of your projector, if it is not a sealed lens assembly?

You can google for (infocus) 4805 dust blob to see discussion of issue on another projector. "

Should i worry about it if i cant see it from where i am sitting? What exactly is it?

I posted this in the thread for my tv, but made a new thread since no one was answering and it kind of applies to all tvs with a screen lol.

If that's a rear-projection TV, you could indeed have something inside that's casting a fuzzy shadow on the screen. It happened to me. I had this visible fuzzy blob at the bottom of the image. Pulled the back of the set and found a spider web along with a dead spider. The spider was in the light path to the screen and casting a small shadow. Got rid of that, and cleaned a fairly heavy layer of dust off the 3 CRTs, and TV looked like new again.

yeah it has always been there. should i care if i cant see it from where i sit? this is so annoying lol. that or risk a tv with other problems/stuck/dead pixels.

Your issue is minor compared to the huge dust blob issues I had with my Mits WD 65733. But thanks to those dust blobs they replaced my TV with a WD 73835 at no charge.

haha thanks for that.

Its actually probably smaller than it seems based on the picture. Its impossible to take the pic from where i sit and be able to see it, which should mean that i shouldnt worry so much, but yeah. Its just annoying it is there, but i dunno if i wanna do anything about it.

Depends what sort of clouding/flashlight issues your panel has,if any?

If you cant notice it from where you are watching from,and your panel has no noticable clouds etc,then I would personally stick with what you have now.

You could end up with a panel that has very bad clouding .

Well, in addition to this, when i put it on a white screen to see if there were any other dead/stuck pixels, i found a spot a few pixels wide/high, right at the area where the screen meets the frame, that is all messed up, like a bunch of stuck pixels. i found another area similar to this at the top (the other is at the bottom), but smaller.

in addition to this i have minor clouds and some lights at the top two corners, and i had some stuck pixels that i unstuck myself when i first got it.

Should i do an exchange? Its hard to see these problems, but im scared that i got a bad panel that will screw me later on.

if you can at no charge to you ,i would do it now .

You paid for a perfect tv and you should get one

hey guys I have a very similar problem to what test is showing on his 650.

Hi Viper & Test,

Its such a tough call as to whether to swap ,as the risk of getting something worse is there.I'm not sure what the cause of your problem is,but its down to what you notice when watching films/tv etc.

I had really bad clouding and flashlighting on my first 650 panel,and it was noticable in normal viewing (dark films like Blade Runner,The Crow etc ),so it was a fairly easy decision to have a replacement panel fitted under warranty.

I thought about living with it,but I just couldn't,my eyes were drawn to the clouds every time a dark scene came on.

I had some luck in getting an "almost" problem free panel,no clouds visible at anything but high backlights,and very minor flashlighting from one corner.

I dont think theres many "perfect" larger size LCD screens about,almost all exibit some form of problem that people like us notice ,and get annoyed by.

Basically,if it was me,and I kept seeing the imperfection,I would have it replaced.

It's a horrible position to be in though,very frustrating to have these sort of issues when you have laid out this much cash.

I forgot to mention ,it makes me wonder whether a lot of the problems like flashlighting are caused by the amount of torque applied to the set's case screws.The techs that replaced my panel were muttering to each other about the tightness when they came to undo the screws to remove my existing panel.

The panel they fitted had never been fixed to anything before,and was almost perfect.Maybe its just a coincidence,I'm not sure.

Wow, that is interesting, thanks for posting. I will probably make a decision in a couple days. This really is frustrating...i guess $1500 isnt worth what it used to be.

yeah...well I think this is a piece of dirt on the top left part of the screen,or maybe a small crack. Whatever it is its annoying me so i called today and will be getting the LCD panel replaced hopefully sometime next week.

I only have one flashlight and some minor clouding on the top left part of the screen. I really hope my next panel wont be any worse...

Does that mean theyre replacing the entire tv?
