I have a Toshiba 40RV525U
"Picture Size" modes include: Natural, TheaterWide 1, TheaterWide 2, TheaterWide 3, Full, 4:3 HD, Native, and Dot by Dot.
Which one of these will give me 1:1 pixel map for a 1080p hdmi source?
The manual says "Dot by Dot is for VGA, SVGA, XGA, WXGA, and SXGA sources only"
The manual for this set says "If receiving a 480i (HDMI), 480p (HDMI), 720p, 1080i, or 1080p signal program, Native mode scales the video to display the entire picture within the borders of the screen (i.e. no overscanning)"
I really HATE to see that word "scales" in there. I'm wondering if this is a case of terminology becoming lax.
I have read in another Toshiba manual (42LZ196)that Native "Native Mode™ eliminates unnecessary overscan and scaling of 1080 HD signals, providing pixel for pixel image reproduction, for the cleanest possible image."
THIS is what I want. No scaling, no overscanning. Just a 1:1 pixel map. Is the Native Mode on my Toshiba 40RV525U the same as the Native Mode on the Toshiba 42LZ196?
I'm HOPING that my manual was just written up wrong. Surely Toshiba wouldn't use the same name for two entirely different features??
Thanks to anyone who knows about this.
Dave
