I currently have a Toshiba 57H83 so I am good there. A Sony 5.1 HTIB includes single disc non-progressive scan DVD player. I am building a house and have pre-wired for 7.1 surround sound.

(All Monster Cable 14 guage CL-3 in wall)

I am looking at a Denon DVD player (not sure if I want a universal player or not)

Pioneer Elite VSX-52TX (if I buy in store) VSX-55or 56TX if I buy online.

I like Polk Audio speakers so far and I was thinking about the Monitor series.

I am going to upgrade everything in my system at some point but definitely not all at the same. So which order should I upgrade in. My wife has pretty much agreed that I can get the DVD player this christmas, Should I still get that, get a new receiver, or buy some speakers first?

My other consideration of the speaker side of things is that I won't be able to buy all the new speakers at the same time. I would probably buy a new center and then fronts, then side surrounds, rear surrounds and finally a sub.

Any help in which course to take please let me know.

thanks

What is your general use mix in percentages:

Example:

30% DVD / 30% music / 20% SDTV / 20% HDTV

I don't use the HT for music at all. thats why I am not sure about getting a universal dvd player.

my percentages are roughly:

HDTV 25%

SDTV 40%

DVD 30%
