Im trying to run my PC on my BD 800, at 640x480 the picture is stunning through my break out box ,as it is at 800 x 600 but for some reason at 1024 x 768 the top 10 % of the screen shifts left ( -ive horizontal sync) or right (+ ive horizontal sync)im getting pretty desperate i even made my own cable using the pinouts from this web site http://www.pccables.com/cabtech.htm and an old monitor cable which gave me a really good 640 x 480 but wudnt go any higher http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif any help is much appreciated it http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

what refresh rate are you running? 1024*768 should be fine

at 72Hz, 75 is possible as well although then the top of the image starts to bend very slightly to the right.

Als when you use your home-made cable dou you connect it directly to the projector (leaving out the break-out box)?

If so are you using powerstrip and have you set both horizontal and vertical sync to negative for resolutions other than 640*480(which has negative sync as standard)?

Wow there is so much going on i dunno where to start

1st up my home brew ,Ths was a home made cable using Four BNC connectors RGB and composite Sync i used it on its own i have given up using it but if i remember correctly i had to set vert sync to positive for it to work as for my break out box it seems to be working quite well but my software wont let me select 72 Hz at 1024 x 768 even though my Video Card is more than capable of it so im stuck at 60 hz for now. I have never heard of power strip what is it ???? is it any good or expensive http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif ( excuse my ignorance) i have managed to make the situation not as apparent by reducing the vertical screen size with the S/ware for my video card for some strange reason even though i reduce the size it stays the same on the projector but the info box comes up on the bottom left and tells me my Horizontal Sync Frequency Dropped in fact by playing with the size i can get my Horizontal sync to vary between 47.0Khz and 58.8Khz after which it just says invalid input frequency by now the picture looks quite messed up but you can still see it just about http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif out of interest what is yours set at under normal conditions at 1024 x 768

I couldn`t get stable sync directly from my PC with my (previous) BG-800. I used a home made separate -> composite sync converter, and later an Extron RGB-118 interface. Both allowed me to use 1024x768, 72hz. Try to change the sync from "fast" to "slow", or vice versa in the BD-800 menu. This sometimes help to straighten up the upper part of the image.

powerstrip is a utility you can use for making custom resolutions monitor profiles and is very usefull when you wan't to get the maximum out of your htpc. You can download the shareware version (which is fully functional) at www.entechtaiwan.com. It will allow you to easily set your refresh rate to 72Hz.

What video card are you using? for a direct connection with your homemade cable it will need to support composite sync (GeForce cards do not do this).

For more information on how to use powerstrip you can use the search function: http://www.avsforum.com/ubbcgi/search.cgi?action=intro

or start with the HTPC FAQ: http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/Forum12/HTML/006302.html

if you haven't already done so offcourse http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

P.S. the scanrate on my barco running 1024*[email protected] is around 57,6 KHz (well actually that is what powerstrip says it is)
