If I have an 800 x 600 projector, should I play PC games on 800 x 600? Does bumping up the resolution provide a better PQ? Will I have to adjust the settings on the projector if I go to a higher resolution, or on my desktop settings?
For projectors, it is always best to send a signal equal to the projector's native resolution. Anything less will cause it to either only use part of the LCDs, or try to enlarge it with a crappy algorithm that will look horrible in most cases.
If your game supports the native resolution of the projector, you should definitely go for it. Now if you don't mind sacrificing picture quality for frame rates, you might need to stick to 640x480 then. Some games will not support higher resolutions, so you might be out of luck in those cases too.
