I'm at the finish line of my HT only the table for my Sony 1252 is not done.

I have long wanted to lower the noise from the fans on the Sony. I have seen some coffee tables used for CRT's in here so I got some idea of how the table should look now I only miss the ideal material for the noise reduction. Since the pj needs to get rid of the heat I wondered if anyone out there know some easy-to-find materials that could lower the noise without making the table like an oven for the pj.


I've taking the liberty to include a picture I think I found in here some months ago, showing a table I think could be used.

I think the normal damping material you use in computers should do.

Just as long as it's pretty heavy.

I built a center consul for my 1272 out of a material (darn can't remember the name from Home Depot. This material is can be found in the lumber section and purchased in 4X8 and 5X10 sheets. It is significantly cheaper than wood and (unless you want a wood finish) it holds paint very well.


I can't even tell my PJ is running



Total center consul cost $54. If you want, I go home, take pics of it so you can see what I did and I'll ask my wife what the material was.

Well I have all ready made a wooden coffee table last year and this table is the one I'm going to remodel to the CRT table. But maybe this material you are talking about could be used inside the table.

It would be great if you could tell me the name of it and yes a couple of pictures would be great as well.
