Do I need a 12" Subwoofer or will 8" suffice. I have 5 Mirage Omnisats that are ceiling mounted in a 16 x 18' room. Tile floor, walls are 4" concrete block, one wall is all glass sliders with vertical blinds, other wall has a triple window. A very "hard" room. Does that make a difference in re: to a subwoofer?

Is Velodyne the best? Do I need a powered subwoofer if I have a Denon AVR-3805?

Thanks for your advice

I have a 6.1 setup w/ the omnistats. I also have a 10" mirage sub and it is plenty. I have never needed to max it out yet.

I don't think the fact that you have Omnisats is relevant to your sub needs. Choose your sub based on your room size, desired output and frequency response. I have a sub satellite system, and started out with an 8" sub, and have progressed to dual 10" subs. In my opinion, contrary to common sense, you need a better sub with sats than with fuller frequency speakers. In your system, you are depending on the sub with virtually no help up to at least 80hz. Make sure you get one that is tight for music. From there, go as big as your budget allows.
