What to do about 2 SPDIF outputs into 1 input

370 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  WMAMan
The AccessTV has SPDIF ac3 digital output and the Revolution 7.1 has a SPDIF digital ac3 output. But my Denon 3300 receiver only has 1 SPIDF coax ax3 input.

What can be done about that?

Does your Denon have any optical inputs available? I ran into the same situation with my Sony. Bought some coax-> optical converters from PartsExpress for $14.95 (including the power supply) and then reassigned one of my optical inputs to the video input. Works great.

Your right! I should have thought of that lol

I didn't know they sold a product that does this. Sure enough I found that one and found that M-Audio sells one for $60.

Thanks for the help :)
I presume you have digital coax inputs as well.

You can get both optical to coax and coax to optical converters on eBay for under $25.

Would one have to expect any differences in audio quality, whether to go with a cheap converter or a more expensive one? It's digital after all.... or not???

I don't own one, but you could also consider this...

AA1177 (AUDIO AUTHORITY - 1177)

4 Source (4xSPDIF and 4xToslink) Signal Sensing Switcher

It is a bit more (119 at DigitalConnection), but then you wouldn't have to manually switch sources on your receiver.
