1) If your using latex or acrylic paint you'll be fine. Oil based would probably be ok to but I would double check before using it. Since your indoors I doubt you'll need oilbased paint anyway.
2) Quickest and easiest place is Radio Shack. They have many different ways to secure the wire to baseboard, caseing, wall etc. Could also go to home depot or lowes but that would require more searching. Don't use a thumbtack. Doublesided tape would probably work but theirs always a chance it would come loose in time. You can find wire anchors that will hold it secure + many other methods. That's why I suggested radio shack, they can help the quickest. You'll pay a few more cents there but this isn't a high dollar item.

My questions are: 1) Can I really paint the wires without potentially eating through them or damaging them in some way? 2) How can I secure the wires to my wall / door frame such that they don't dangle but without puncturing them? I thought of a thumbtack through the middle of the wire (the thinner area where the two actual wires meet) but that might be dangerous. Then I thought of double sided tape but I don't know if it will stick to the rubbery surface of the wire that well. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! |
