What to upgrade to?

I have gotten into the home theater world in the last two years or so. My current setup is centered around my Sanyo Z2 projector. My current receiver is the Yamaha RXV440 which is running Athena AS-F2 mains, AS-C1 center, and AS-R1 surounds.


I'm currious what the next step up would be? I know my speakers can handle some more power, but I'd also like to get a nice sounding receiver. All the reviews I've read about the Athena speakers says they keep sounding better and better when paired with a nice receiver.


So any suggestions for me? Should I upgrade to 7.1 yet?

did you consider to upgrade to separates or partial separates (amps for fronts)? But I'm not sure if your receiver allows you do that...

Check out either the yamaha htr 5790 rx 1500 or pioneer vsx 1014 they all seem to be good models,I got the htr 5790 and it is a great unit,it has 7.1 its THX select and you can layer DPL IIx over dts or dolby.
