I'm in the market for a 40" and I'm considering the Samsung A550.

This was after I was thinking of picking up a A750 until my budget went from $1400 to $1000. Now I have no clue what TVs are good with this price range.


Anyone have any recommendations or should I just pull the trigger for the A550 which seems like a great TV already.

Why not just get the A550? I just picked the 46'' version up for $1099, so I'm sure you could find the 40 for under a grand.

Also, I'd like to compare some Tvs which is why I asked the original question.

The A550 is probably about the best 60Hz LCD out now, as the big dogs are all 120hz and stepping towards LED and 240hz.

Also I heard that on a 40 inch I won't notice the difference between 60hz and 120hz will I?

Oh you'd tell the difference, I think it's mostly people say you wont notice the difference between 720p and 1080p at that size from a certain average viewing distance. But from any distance the difference in 120hz is noticeable.


The whole argument about 1080p has gone out the window though as there aren't even many 32" left that aren't 1080p, other than the lower end ones.

I got the A550 for even less than johnny. But we're not allowed to discuss details about that sort of stuff here. I'm not even sure we're allowed to say that much.

LNA530, same picture as the 550 and about $100 or more cheaper. (don't pay attention to the contrast ratio-you will not see the difference, I could go into detail about all the optics behind that, but I won't.)
