What type of tweeter - woofer design would have higher horizontal dispersion?

236 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  RayGuy
What general design has the highest horizontal dispersion? From light reading, it seems 3 ways designs with lower and higher order crossover frequencies tend to have higher dispersion.

Is that correct? Other considerations?

Any specific examples in a budget of $600 and under for a pair for speakers that are known to have good dispersion?

I suggest speakers that use waveguides. Look at JBL powered monitors. https://www.jblpro.com/www/products/recording-broadcast/3-series-mkii

Revel M16 is very nice, they won a double blind shootout I attended at Harman. 18 people unanimously chose them over B&W and KEF models in the same price range.

Measurements for many speakers in that category here:

Take a look at the off axis response of the 3 way NHT C3 ($270 each on Amazon) compared to some far more expensive speakers.
