I'm looking for a cheap video card which I could use to connect to my Toshiba 30" HDTV.


My HTPC is only a P3 550, so I don't need anything fancy as video card goes.


I'd like to connect the video card to the DVI input on my TV.



Will any video card with a DVI connection work (as long as it supports [email protected])? Or any cards you can recommend.

I agree with a fanless 5200 with 128MB/128bit. I would probably get this one because it is a few bucks cheaper.

Is 128bit a must? What difference does it make from a 64bit?


Would this card do the trick? (can't post links, grr).

That card would probably work well. I think the 256MB might be overkill because the extra memory will probably only be used by games such as Doom3. Given that you are running a P3 550, I wouldn't think you would be planning on doing a lot of gaming on this setup.

Not a lot of gaming, just a little counter strike.


I can get that card for a really good price, thats why i'm considering it.



What kind of cable do I get, and where? I've noticed there are 4 etra pin holes on the back of that video card (the xfx) that the connection on my TV doesn't have.

I'd get a fanless ATI 9600 non-pro. Video performance is probably similar to the FX5200 but game-wise it's faster. A 128MB $65 PowerColor version pops up on NewEgg every other week
