What would you do?

The current TV in my bedroom is an old 25' Sony that still works. I've been thinking about upgrading to the Panasonic TC32- LX700 since it has received great reviews and price is pretty good. My problem is that I cannot find it locally therefore I would have to buy via Internet. I'm a little nervous about mail order as I am used to buying locally in case there is an issue its easy to return. So my question is: do I upgrade now or wait to find something locally that receives good reviews and good price like Panasonic TC32-Lx700

Thanks

I have included a link below to Amazon. You can order it at their site from Vanns. Vanns is an excellent on line vendor. Save some money and have it delivered to your door. Vanns is excellent to deal with and you would have nothing to worry about if a problem arose.:

Thanks for the link mess444, as it is I was looking at vanns. Anyone else have any thoughts regarding my question?
I can only offer my own experiences. We ordered a 52-inch Samsung LCD online and have a significant problem with it. It developed after about a month of use. The online retailer wouldn't take the set back and we have had to deal directly with Samsung. My TV has been in the shop for almost 2 weeks with no real end in sight.

If you want to read about it, here's the thread I started:

Honestly, IMHO, I would pay the extra money and buy from a local retailer if I could do this over again. That being said, you did say you cannot find your desired model locally. My only advice is to read all of the fine print on the retailer's web site, and even call them and specially ask about your model and what their return policy is. You might even check locally about any chance a retailer could order it for you and have it delivered to the store.

Best of luck with your purchase!

"Local vendors" are not equipment renters. Some chain stores might have special exchange periods, but for the most part whether it is an online dealer or local vendor, after a couple of weeks, they're going to tell you to call the mfg.
How much of a hurry are you in? If I were you, I'd wait until I could find something in stock locally. Besides, prices tend to drop as time goes on anyway and you may be able to get a good deal when they do get stock.
I'm a big fan or on-line shopping/purchasing. It's where I go for most of my needs (i.e. computer components, HT equipment, movies, car parts, detailing supplies, tires, digital cameras, etc.). .....great deals and I've always had a good experience. However, when it came to buying my Samsung 4661 I too was concerend about the possibility of return and/or damage. I simply didn't want to deal with having to ship a product this large (and expensive) back to the vendor. .....so, I waited for an opportunity to arise and purchased my set from a local B&M chain while on sale. If by chance I did have a problem (or was not satisfied), I could simply return it for exchange the same day. .....I guess it all boils down to your comfort level.
