It really depends on what you want Marion. Portables are great for recording too, and listening later. I have a Stiletto 100, and love it. I record Stern Everyday, and listen to it when, and what I want too. FF through the commercials, and parts of the show I find boring/tedious. Great way to listen.
But it sounds like to me, you are just looking for something to listen to mainly sports/talk radio.
If that is the case, you may be better off(and save money) by buying a radio that has A la carte ability. Not all radios have this. Some do. That way you can pick and choose what you want to listen to, and pay a cheaper monthly fee.
