I'm a new lcd's owner and I want a calibration disc for my tv.

So what's the best calibration disc for a newbie like me?

The best starting point is the THX Optimizer found on all DVDs displaying the THX logo. Quick. Easy. Gets you going.

After that, there are lots of choices which you'll hear about from subsequent posters.

BD please ^^

It doesn't make any difference. You can calibrate a display using a DVD on a BD player.

I have to disagree with this statement, but just a little. I have the standard DVD of Video Essentials and I calibrated my Sony SXRD TV with it. All was well until I received my Blu Ray DVE disc and the settings between the standard version and Blu Ray were noticeable, with the nod going to the Blu Ray. So yes you can calibrate using a standard DVD but you MIGHT get different or better results with a Blu Ray. This was my experience, others might have had simular or different results.
