What's the best format to use when playing Playstation and/or Xbox 360 games?

I have all these choices:

Quite alot of choices... Which would be the best for video games using HDMI cable and an Onkyo SR-805 with Playstation 3 and/or Xbox 360 games?

Answer is gonna depend on your set up, number of speakers and what formats your consoles output also...

Depends on your set up. If you have a 5.1 system and your game console connected by digital out I would use the Dolby Digital 5.1 the game is sending out. If a 6.1 or 7.1 system it is upto what you like. I have 7.1 and use DD 5.1 (what the game is sending) and non matrix for the surround backs. No processing is applied and just repeats the signal from the surounds.


Some of the "game" modes are meant for 2 channel gaves to sound like 5 channel.
