I have a good number of blank hd-dvd-r discs and three hd-dvd players(planning to buy another one) I want to buy the best hd-dvd writer(maybe two) external or internal for a desktop pc. I did some research and found out toshiba was the only manufacturer made hd-dvd writers but difficult to find pics or info on each.

thanks in advance

That's because it is obsolete now. HD DVD is dead and no longer made. Bluray won. It would be unwise to continue to invest in a technology that's dead and soon, if not already, you won't be able to find any more HD-DVD R media.

If I were you I would convert them to Blu-ray ISOs using ClownBD. They can then be burned to BD-R or just played on a HTPC.

I am doing this now, it is a ~1hr process per disc but largely unattended.

Works great.

Hi

Since you have some blank hd-dvd-r's

u can try ebay that ur best bet

I would recommend not to buy...coz hd dvd-r are like pre-mature e-jaculation

But anyway

two options: if u like hddvd that much i would find by posting online if somebody had writer so that you can borrow or rent it from him

second option: sell it in e-bay and convert it to bluray structure before u sell it off

That what i would do if i were you

How many balnk discs are we talking about here? I dont know what kind of source material you're planning on using but would it be an option to go with a more basic dual layer DVD and trans/encode your material to a high definition MPEG-4/AVC disc (8 GB is going to look pretty good but you may not get all the high def. audio & extras if you're talking about ripping movies). I would think most HD-DVD players can play an AVC/DVD with no problems...

Idiot post of the day. Thanks. Ignorance, horrible grammar, and a comparison of technology to a bodily function you are likely familiar with. Awesome post my fellow American!

thanks for your advice here but I am aware of the status of the technology and I do not mind spending the money nor the format being obsolete. I already have 100s of HD-DVD movies and no hd-dvd reader for my PC so this will serve as a reader and might as well burn some as well.

I am simply interested in the best HD-DVD writer ever sold in the US.

thanks again
