What's the best screen for a Sony VPL-AW15?

I bought an Elite 100" screen not too long ago, and am very happy with it, but would still like more pop from my picture, what screen should I use to get a more overall dynamic picture?

I have a da lite High power screen and it is BRIGHT if you want more brightness punch that is what to go with I'd say 1.3 gain would do very well if you have a dedicated room. I use a living room with large windows and white walls so I went with the HP fabric and it does the job well I think. I can take some pictures if you want.

I'm a little cautious about the HP myself; the reduced viewing angle and possible hot-spotting. I've heard good results of mating a Carada Brilliant White with this pj. 1.4 gain as opposed to 2.8.

Ya the Carada is what I would have gotten had I had the space for a fixed screen not to mention it costs a little more than 2x what I paid for my HP screen.

Really? Since when does Da-Lite cost twice as much as Carada?

Oops, but that's actually what I meant: since when does Carada cost twice as much as Da-Lite? Isn't Da-Lite more expensive?

I was saying the Carada BW costs about twice what I paid for my da lite HP screen, from what I saw online at least.

I'm not trying to beat this to death, because it's really neither here nor there...and the real answer is probably that you got a great deal on your Da-Lite somehow...but their websites show a 100" Da-Lite, Da-Snap, High Power as costing $1208.00, msrp of course. A Carada, Precision Series (and I really am trying to compare apples to apples here) 100" screen, in Brilliant White, is listed at $631.75. Even the "high-end" Carada, Criterion Series, is only $744.16.

I mean, trust me how I wish it were true, because I've always thought of the "well-reveiwed" screens in this order, cost-wise: Stewart, Da-Lite & Draper, then Carada...so I wanted to make sure I wasn't under a costly misconception. But I think in general Da-Lite costs twice as much as Carada, not the other way around.

P.S. I felt guilty, because I really was not trying to load the argument my way...but it is hard to compare Da-Lite and Carada because Da-Lite has several models, with varying price points, and Carada only has the 2. So I went back and looked at Da-Lite's third "best" model, the Perm-Wall; a 100" Perm-Wall HP is still $793.00

Sorry about the misunderstanding, although I think the post is still valid. If the OP was looking for a fixed screen, he shouldn't presume that Carada costs more than Da-Lite.

There is no hot spotting. The peak gain does drop very quickly off center, but you'd probably have to get pretty extreme with your positioning for it to be dimmer than that 1.4. Send Da-Lite an email, they give out material sample packets.
My AW15 throws about 13.5 feet from 106 in HP screen and there is no hotspotting just the occassional screen sparkle from the HP material, but you just turn your head slightly and those go away.

CD I was comparing my pull down model to a fixed Carada BW that I had priced earlier this year, although the OP didnt say it had to be fixed he just asked in general I get your point and that is fine as well.

Yeah, there's no hotspotting. I was worried at first too but after the recommendations on the Screens board I replace my 92" 1.8 gain Greywolf II with a 106" 2.8 gain High Power and the results were amazing. Black levels are fine, and colors just pop.
