Have a look at either Samsung LN-T4061 or Samsung LN-T4065.
the samsung 4061 is a good choice

another good one is the sony 40s3000
I 2nd the 40S3000 though I haven't seen it that low yet, about $1200 now.
I was wondering the same thing. I'm also looking for a tv for my living room and only have about a $1000 budget.

Was also wondering about the Sharp Aquos 42D43U.
i dont know about new in a box .... but i saw this dude take this open item samsung lnt 4066 from best buy 2 days ago for 999 ..... so even though new its more ... thats pretty good ....
Honestly, I would suggest the LNT-4066 from bestbuy. My wife and I bought one on black friday, and it has been nothing short of spectacular. We have comcast cable (HD/DVR) and the picture of our 40in beats out the picture of my family members Sony Bravia 46in. I personally prefer the glossy finish as opposed to the Matte (we dont have much light coming in from behind us). We have experienced no audio dropouts, no black bars raising on our screen, and we've had it now for 3months. Personally I thought it was a great buy. I did tons of research (mainly on here, these guys know their stuff), and was not mislead in any way. Sorry this is short and not indepth informative, but Im at work. I can post a bit more later. Have a wonderful day!
I was wondering about this as well. I have a westy that died so instead of replacing it with another westy, I want to switch brands. I'll have around 1,000 to work with.
i picked up a sony 40s3000 for 998+tax at bestbuy yesterday. couldnt be happier.

How'd you get that price? Was it a display model?
Sony 40S3000. I picked up last week at CC for $1079. Online price $1199 minus a 10% online coupon. Picked it up at the local CC where the sale price was$1349. To top it all off I got 36mo no interest financing.

Great deal on a great TV with same as cash financing for 3 yrs. I couldn't be happier!!!
Toshiba 42hl67u (720p) at big river .. 1068 (free ship).

Easytobuy.com?
Who the heck is that? 40 inch Sony xbrs for $850.00. Do you truly have $850.00 to give away like that?
