What's the scoop on "The Fugitive", "Lethal Weapon", and "Lethal Weapon 2"?

Greetings,

I was just over at BestBuy and noticed the BD shelves included "The Fugitive", "Lethal Weapon", and "Lethal Weapon 2". Those three titles were somewhat disappointing for HD-DVD because they were not properly inverse-telecined from 1080i to 1080p when creating the master.

I was hoping Warner would choose to create new 1080p masters (correctly processed) when they decided to issue them on BD. Have the BD versions been evaluated yet? Are they free of the inverse-telecine flaws?

Fingers crossed -- Trevor

I own LW1 and LW2

Both have a very good PQ for their age.

7/10 and 9/10

The Fugitive is on the way.

I guess the conclusive part of these evaluations is that HighDefDigest doesn't see any difference between the two releases. That would indicate that whatever is out-of-whack on HD-DVD is the same on BD. Oh, well.

Warner not only acknowledged a problem with several of its titles, but also said they pulled back planned 1080i titles for in-house remastering, rather than leaving any more to the processing house. It was apparently too late for the two or three remaiing titles that were already in the pipeline.

I guess they decided to wait for some future time before recranking those.

Thanks -- Trevor

Enter The Dragon was another 1080i title but on my 55" screen it looked pretty good to me. I'm happy with it. :)
